Mission:
To impact the lives of young people by providing a learning environment with educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through contact with horses.
History: Double Diamond Stables was originally created for riding lessons and limited boarding facilities. In addition, there was some consulting for horse purchases, horse show judging, and horse camps. Double Diamond Stables was opened in 1995 on Midway Drive, Loganville, GA. At that time there were seven horses on the property, four for show and pleasure, one for lessons, and two boarders.
In August, 1997, Double Diamond Stables moved to 2877 Temple Johnson Road, Snellville, GA. Riding lessons, horse camps, and boarding were the main focus of the building.
In August, 2006, Double Diamond Stables moved to 2061 Bethel Rd., NE, Conyers, GA.
Present Situation:
Currently Double Diamond Stables is providing riding lessons, horse camps, birthday parties, clinics, and equine assisted counseling and educational services through the Winning Strides program.
Personnel:
Susan and Jim Jung are the owners of Double Diamond Stables. Susan has been an elementary school counselor for 35 years. After graduating from the University of Florida, she moved to Texas and was very active in the counseling organizations. Now, she is a licensed professional counselor in Georgia. Susan began riding at the age of four and has a passion for children and horses. She is a certified riding instructor for the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association. and has served as a Walking Horse judge for eight years. Susan and Jim have been married for 21 years. Jim has enabled her horse habit, and been her greatest supporter in starting Double Diamond Stables and Winning Strides. They have two children and four grandchildren.
